Review
Being a very popular music instrument, guitar has a reputation of being easy to play. This reputation can be deceitful, since there are many chords to be learned besides the very basic ones, and many of them are not readily available. It is necessary to have a good chord repertory if one wants to play, compose and transpose seriously. Guitar Chord Buster can be a helpng hand in doing this. It features more than 3,000 chords in all the notes and positions on the fretboard. In the upper panel, you can choose the note and the type of chord you want to obtain. A series of chord diagrams will appear, showing the fingerings of the different chords. These are placed in different locations on the fretboard, so you can choose the voicing that best suits your needs. Once you have chosen the right chord for you, its fingerings appear at the lower panel, which has the form of a real guitar fretboard. Interestingly, the program uses a color-coding system, in which the first note is featured in yellow, the third interval is in green and the fifth is in red. This makes easier to understand chord construction. Also, you can hear the chord through the program's built-in MIDI engine. The program also features a series of basic and advanced excercises for learning how to use the program and to acquire music knowledge.
The trial version is functional but has some limitations. You cannot save chords and/or .MIDI files, or change the guitar interface. You can use this version for 29 days before purchasing. There is a more recent version available for downloading at the developer's site. |
